I was on a downward spiral. Every day it was a goal just to get through it to go to sleep at night.

Every morning I woke up, I wasn't sure if I would be alive at the end of the day.

This couldn't continue, but what was causing it? How could I fix it.

My disease was depression and visions of suicide haunted my every waking moment.

Medication helped, but there were too many side-effects.

The link between health and diet

Some people get obese. Some develop heart problems. Some have mental health problems. But whatever the reason, many people wake up one day with a health condition that is directly due to diet.

A good solution to try is to eat a healthy diet.

But that is a landmine field. You can find nearly any type of diet being promoted as "the cure" to any disease you have. And they all seem to contradict each other about what foods you should eat for optimal health.

Part of the problem is industry-funded research that find exactly what the industry wants in order to sell products. Then, even worse, they don't publish in peer-reviewed literature where other scientists can look at the evidence and conclusions. They simply report it to the media who don't bother to check the facts.

Whatever product they have is reported as a new "Superfood" for health.

I've been down that road. It is confusing and frustrating.

Some diets want you to give up entire food groups... groups that humans have been eating for thousands and thousands of years! No fat and high carbs, or no carbs, or vegetarian? How have humans survived? Did our ancestors really thrive on meat and fat alone? Were they really misguided and had no need to hunt animals? Were whole grains the basis of their diet?

How have humans not only survived, but thrived health-wise?
